What’s in my beach bag: Celeb nutritionist Shira RD

By Shira Lenchewski

Shira Lenchewski, known simply as Shira RD (Registered Dietitian) around the internet, is one of our favorite nutritionists here at The Sweat Life. She lives in sunny L.A., and she always has a holistic eating and healthy lifestyle tip to send our way. (It doesn’t hurt that she's also the resident nutrition expert at Lauren Conrad’s lifestyle site, LaurenConrad.com!) This time around, we asked Shira for something a little different, and just right for summer — what’s in your beach bag? The answers are below.

Eats & Drinks

Swell bottle full of H20

Since fluids help expel waste from the body, staying hydrated is key, especially at the beach. I recommend pounding 2 to 3 liters a day.  Shop Swell Bottle

Avocado and Kiwi

Avocado and kiwi are a beach bag must because they’re loaded with potassium, which helps banish bloating by balancing body fluids. And since I’m at my happiest swimming in the ocean, I have to make sure I have enough healthy fat to keep me going before dinner.

Non-toxic sun care

Sun Hat

Protect your face. Plain and simple.  Shop Everything But Water Hat

Suntegrity Mineral-Based Sunscreen

This is the best sunscreen I’ve found so far! Suntegrity's SPF 30 Natural Mineral Sunscreen for the body protects from UV rays and is free of harsh chemicals like parabens, phthalates, propylene glycol, mineral oil, synthetic dyes, sulfates, nanoparticles and chemical UV absorbers. Do it.  Shop Suntegrity Sunscreen

Rock Away Salt Spray

I recently discovered R+Co hair products, which are truly a clean beauty dream come true.  Everything is formulated without parabens, sulfates, mineral oil and petrolatum. Can I get an amen?  Shop Rock Away for Hair

Hurraw! Sun Protection Lip Balm

With just a few high-quality, natural ingredients and 15 SPF, Hurraw! is a no brainer. Earl grey and licorice are my jam.  Shop Hurraw Lip Balm
