Want to burn calories, de-stress, detox, beautify, and rejuvenate all at the same time? Yes! So do we. And we found the best way to achieve this is through infrared therapy. Hence, our mission at HigherDOSE: to bring the incredible benefits of infrared, to health, wellness, and fitness.
By combining infrared heat with an existing workout (such as yoga), you boost the calorie burn and efficacy of the workout. It’s more bang for your buck — and we promise you’ll feel amazing afterwards.
So, how did the idea come about? When our Founder Lauren Berlingeri (star of the series Woman vs. Workout) started using the infrared sauna, she was obsessed with the results she was getting: weight loss, skin improvement, and feeling “high” and relaxed afterwards. When she started researching infrared for an article she was writing, she was blown away by the documented benefits of infrared. As Lauren puts it, “I knew right away this was the most complimentary therapy to my workouts, and a great way to get high — it was like getting a massage, a facial, and acupuncture all in one. Now I’m on a mission to bring it to the masses.”
The main benefits of infrared include:
Calorie Burn. Studies have shown that the benefits of an infrared sauna session can burn upwards of 600 calories while you relax! As the body works to cool itself, there is a substantial increase in heart rate, cardiac output, and metabolic rate, causing the body to burn more calories.
Anti-aging and skin purification. Infrared wavelength is the most effective wavelength for healing the epidermis and dermis layers of the skin. Infrared stimulates collagen production to reduce wrinkles and improve overall skin tone.
Relaxation. Decreases cortisol and increases serotonin.
Detoxification. Detoxifies 7x more than traditional saunas; detoxifies of heavy metals, radiation, and environmental toxins.
Pain relief. Infrared heat penetrates tissue, joints, and muscles to relieve aches and pains.
Cell health and improved circulation. Stimulates the circulatory system and oxygenates the body’s cells.
Together with Clearlight, the number one infrared company in North America, we’ve developed a unique infrared heating system that brings all these benefits to a yoga or workout class. (Note: You can find HigherDOSE infrared panels at Y7 Yoga Studio – the featured fitness studio this week!)
Our infrared heat is unlike anything else out there for three main reasons:
1. Full spectrum. Unlike other infrared heating systems, HigherDOSE infrared is full spectrum. Most systems only incorporate far infrared, which offers detoxing and weight-loss benefits, but not the benefits that come with mid and near infrared (such as increased blood flow, skin rejuvenation, and wound healing). Bottom line is that our full spectrum system is designed to maximize all of the potential power of infrared.
2. Clay. A very special point of difference for us is our addition of clay to our heating system. If you’ve ever been to a Korean spa, you may have experienced an infrared + clay sauna room. Infrared and clay make a powerful combination because of the therapeutic, negative ions that the heat plus clay create. Generally speaking, negative ions increase the flow of oxygen to the brain — resulting in higher alertness, decreased drowsiness, and more mental energy. They also offer the following benefits:
· Protect against germs and environmental stressors // Speed up oxidation of serotonin // Reinforce collagen // Strengthen the body's immune system // Improve metabolism
3. Carbon/ceramic. We combine carbon and ceramic in our heaters, which produces long wave infrared + a high infrared output. The carbon in our heaters allows the heater to produce long wave far infrared heat. This long wave infrared heat penetrates deeper into your body, and the infrared heat is more readily absorbed. The ceramic in our heaters gives the heaters a very high infrared output when compared to traditional carbon heaters, so we can concentrate the heat directly on your body. This combination of carbon and ceramic in our HigherDOSE heaters is just another reason why we’re the most therapeutic system on the market.
Have we blown your mind with all these benefits? It’s hard to believe that infrared can be so beneficial for your health, but it’s true. When you experience a yoga or fitness class powered by HigherDOSE, it’s like adding another workout on top of your existing one. You can focus on your breathing, movement, and mental state — since the infrared is doing the heavy lifting for you!
