It’s finally fall! It’s always a funny time — still warm, but with a nip in the air, a harbinger of chills to come. As the layers pile on and the shivers set in, it can be tempting to let a bit of the nutritional vigilance go, as our habits and cravings shift.
However, the transition from season to season is actually a time when our bodies need extra support, nourishment, and love for optimal wellness through the rest of the year.
As the weather gets colder and drier, our nutritional needs are in part geared toward balancing that external condition, and we need to take in foods that ground and warm us, supporting our digestion, mood, energy, and inner rhythms.
For us at Lulitonix, that means two of our favorite things: Green Blends and Adaptogenic Nut Mylk potions.
Blending for fall: Digestion, Energy, Balance
So why blended greens?
Unlike juice, blends are a whole food — whole recipes, with all the fiber intact. Blends are satiating, and lend themselves to the inclusion of unusual and amazing grounding, beautifying, and cleansing ingredients, such as avocado and chia. Fall is a season where fiber and digestive support are very important to help our bodies cleanse and remain healthy and balanced. As the season deepens, warming elements such as ginger, turmeric, and citrus peel are also great additions, and should be part of one’s wellness rotation.
Lulitonix blend picks
Our two Lulitonix picks for fall are both packed with avocado. A wonderful fall food, avocados are moisturizing, replete with fiber, and very liver supportive. Avocados also enhance the bioavailability and absorption of the greens in the blend, so it’s a serious win-win.
Fresh: Thick and nourishing, the avocado, lemon juice, ginger, and multitude of raw greens is truly the perfect anti-inflammatory food for nourishment and satiety.
The Blend: The Blend really hits that savory “sweet spot” (the “savory spot”!?) that we all crave at this time of year. Avocado is blended with spinach, young broccoli microgreens, a dose of amla — a vital adaptogenic herb which helps our stress reaction, sleep, and immunity — lemon peel, and cold pressed olive oil to further ground us and amp up the yum factor and the detoxifying benefits.
Going nutmylk, and adapting to the season with adaptogens
We. Just. love. Nutmylks. Nutrient dense, energizing, balancing, creamy and decadent, they are also the perfect vehicle for any number of additional boosts. We’ve definitely been taking advantage of that versatility and going pretty adaptogen-crazy around here with our various chia potions and magic mylks.
Adaptogens, a group of tonic herbs that help your body with stress response and bring your body into balance, are a wonderful and critical part of your arsenal all year long. Essentially, adaptogens supply your body with whatever it needs, energizing, enhancing our libidos, stoking digestive fire, and supporting our reaction to stress. Some of our favortites: Turmeric, Maca, Amla, Ashwaganda, Mucuna, Goji berries & Ashwaganda.
Lulitonix magic mylk picks for the season
Life Mylk: A pretty-in-pink, slightly tart treat with hibiscus, goji, and alma — a trio of revered longevity foods which help your body adjust to stress, keep energized, and support relaxation and your body’s ability to sleep.
Green Mylk: Greens plus cashew mylk, plus superfood Moringa, plus olive oil = Sheer. Anti-inflammatory. Perfection.
Chia X: Hormone regulating, energizing, and libido stoking. Maca, Hemp Protein, Cacao. Down, Tiger.
Lulitonix now has a storefront!
As some of you know, we have recently opened up shop in the teeny (tiny) storefront attached to Soho Strength Lab at 182 Mulberry Street. We had wanted a small first physical presence, in a location we loved, possibly within a complementary business. Poof — manifestation magic! (And the VERY muscled trainers wandering in and out? Just a manifestation bonus!)
We set out to create a happy, relaxed space with good energy, and with our very own rockstar shaman, Alyson Charles, in residence. The fun thing to us about having the space is our ability to create new products quickly, to play around and innovate, letting our brainstorms yield more immediate results. We believe that nutrition can be and truly is magical, and fun, so visit us to sample our newest products, medicinal treats, t-shirts and good vibes.
**BONUS: Sweat Life readers get 20 percent off all blend purchases for the rest of the month — just waltz in and use the code “sweat life” and enjoy!
