By Danielle Bernstein, WeWoreWhat
Bandier has become a well-known name in the fitness fashion world, a go-to spot for women to find luxury athletic wear. So what happens when they pair up with one of the great fashion bloggers, Danielle Bernstein from WeWoreWhat? Athletic fashion magic. Danielle tells us about her experience as a top fashion blogger, and talks about the new collection with Strut This and Bandier.
WeWoreWhat is known for covering street style in NYC, and more recently your personal style picks - what shifted your interest to fitness fashion?
I've always been really into fitness, but was recently motivated this year to start working out every day to create a more healthy lifestyle.
You have said you decided to embrace your body and ALSO hit the gym. What is your advice for allowing both of these to coexist?
Coming to terms with your body image and realizing that being different is beautiful is something that I hope all girls can achieve. Once you are happy with your body, you will exude much more confidence and others with notice it.
What do you do to keep active? What is your favorite workout?
I use the elliptical for cardio, and I work out with my personal trainer 3 times a week.
How did you choose the designs and fits for the Bandier capsule collection with Strut This?
The two prints that I am most obsessed with are marble and palm, so matching those with the dark green hue was one of the easiest decisions in the design process.
Why add "Like a Girl" to the collection - what does that mean to you?
When I saw the "Like a Girl" campaign air during the Super Bowl last year (I believe it was used for a tampon advertisement) it really struck a chord with me. "Like a Girl" is a term that is outdated and sexist — and for me personally, I believe that it is almost sort of snarky and "I don't give a f*ck" to put that on the back of workout clothes.
How important do you think it is when you are working out to wear clothes that you feel good in?
Very. When you look good, you feel good. Just because you are sweating, doesn't mean you can't be fashionable and sexy.
The WeWoreWhat collection with Strut This is exclusively available at Bandier, located in the Flatiron of NYC, Southampton, and at their online store.
Danielle Bernstein is the founder of WeWoreWhat, a fashion blog she created to provide a daily dose of outfit inspiration from every corner of NYC. What started as a street style blog is now a personal style blog and her fashion diary. Danielle highlights her everyday outfits as well as her experience in the city that never sleeps (sometimes she doesn’t sleep with it). What should be the easiest part of everyone’s day (getting dressed in the morning) is sometimes the hardest – and that’s why she blogs.
