Jay Cardiello is a busy guy. A celebrity trainer and health strategist to big names like Jennifer Lopez, Sofia Vergara, and 50 Cent, and star on ABC tv show “My Diet is Better than Yours,” he is also the creator of the JCore workout and the No Diet Plan. Jay believes that food is only the habit — we need to focus on the root cause for the way we eat. Based in NYC, he travels all over the nation helping people in their health journeys. So what’s a Day in the Sweat Life like for Jay? Read on…
1. What is the first thing that you do when you wake up?
It's usually at 4am. So, before I hit the streets and head off to my first client, I have to take this little girl for a walk. Meet Sofie my bulldog.
2. What is your go-to workout?
JCORE! It's 20 minutes, can be done in a 4x4 space, and no weights. Although, the fitness guy in the videos is kind of goofy.
3. What does a typical day of meals and snacks look like for you?
I'm either running around NYC or traveling with clients. So, my bag is packed with Justin's Almond Butter packets, fruit, and nuts. But, when I'm home… I have it pretty good, as I'm married to a chef, who just happens to cook for many of my clients. Here, she is working on set with Kristen Taekman of the Real Housewives of New York.
4. What is your favorite indulgence?
For food it is Best Pizza in Williamsburg. Their Caramelized Onion Slice is off the hook. Personally, I cannot get enough of my little man Max.
5. What is your healthy living philosophy?
Don't ever give yourself the opportunity to ask, “What If?” Too many people go through life feeling that they don't have the time, the money, or the resources. We blame everything and everyone... out of fear. It doesn't matter if you hit the target — it's what you learned, how you developed, and how far you've moved from where you once were. Can you imagine just how much better you'd be, if you simply did not worry about failing or what others would think?
6. Do you mediate?
Yes, every day I dedicate 10-15 minutes to meditation.
8. What is your favorite active wear?
Every day it is something different.
9. What is the last thing you do before you go to bed?
Give my son a kiss good-night.
10. What or who inspires you?
I'm kind of a bookworm. I take a lot of what I read and apply it to my life. Authors like Robbins, Greene, Hill, Schwartz, and even Tim Ferries. We are all a work in progress, and should continually look at ways to improve ourselves.
