We admit we are a bit biased when we say this, but Chris Fanning is one of the most inspiring photographers we've come across in NYC. In addition to taking many of the images on The Sweat Life, Chris has been shooting in the health and wellness space for years — everything from Soulcycle’s lifestyle campaigns, to covers of Shape magazine, to some of today's most motivating personalities, active brands, and bodies we’ve seen to date. So what is a Day in the Sweat Life like for photographer Chris Fanning? Read on.
1. What is the first thing you do when you wake up?
Hydrate. And hope that I’m not waking up at 3am!
2. What is your go-to workout?
36 holes of golf when I can! I also love running the bridges in NYC, although I often stop to take pics. There is so much to see in NYC. Also, spinning and weights.
3. What does a typical day of meals and snacks look like for you?
I'm always on the go, so smoothies with a side of almond butter always work well! I try to avoid heavy food, especially in this heat. I should have shares in Juice Press.
4. What is your favorite indulgence?
Question: "What kind of wine would you like with your dinner?” Me: Yes!
5. What is your healthy living philosophy?
I try to keep things simple and thought-out as much as possible. There are so many factors coming at us every second of the day in NYC — and keeping up with all the social media is a full-time job.
6. Do you meditate?
When I run the bridges, or am on a spin bike.
8. What is your favorite active wear brand?
I mix ‘em all up, day and night! And running shoes, all the time.
9. What is the last thing you do before you go to bed?
Wake up on the couch and tell myself it’s time to get in bed.
10. What or who inspires you?
I really like all the people I meet and get to work with in this career. Sometimes on shoots we talk and talk, then we realize, hey, we’ve got to start shooting!
One of my favorite things, though, is listening to music and walking the streets of NY. Double Espressos always help too!
