By Jason Tran
If you’ve seen trainer Jason Tran out and about around the fitness scene in NYC, you know he has an infectious energy, both for life and for getting fit. He has friends at all the fitness studios, has been featured in publications from Men’s Fitness to Shape magazines, and seems to appear at every fitness pop-up in the city — but his home is at The Fhitting Room and Swerve Fitness. His community of #TranFans follow him to both studios regularly, and even sport #TranFan duds. Not to mention, Jason has some of the best style around when it comes to fitness fashion! So what’s a Day in the Sweat Life like for him? Read on.
1. What is the first thing you do when you wake up?
I always hit snooze once, then immediately get up and brush my teeth.
2. What is your go-to workout?
I do lots of cycling and incorporate HIIT into my strength training, which focuses mostly on core.
3. What does a typical day of meals and snacks look like for you?
I eat a piece of fruit and have coffee in the morning. I typically eat a hummus & avocado wrap for lunch at Terri on 23rd street. For a snack, I'll have a protein shake or half a protein bar. I always have another coffee at 4pm, and for dinner I'll typically eat an arugula salad with shaved fennel, oranges, Parmesan cheese, and lemon honey vinaigrette. Throughout the entire day, I'll have at least a gallon of water.
4. What is your favorite indulgence?
Haagen Dazs Chocolate Peanut Butter Ice Cream, or Truffle Fries.
5. What is your healthy living philosophy?
"What would Beyonce do?"
6. Do you meditate?
No, but I appreciate a long savasana.
9. What is the last thing you do before you go to bed?
I check class rosters to see who will be in my classes the next day and listen to my playlist.
