Fresh off The Sweat Life’s recent trip to sunny LA, we are excited to share our newest beauty obsession: Blushington makeup and beauty lounge. We like to think of it as the beauty equivalent of Drybar, which is infamous here in NYC. Instead of blowouts, however, clients book an appointment slot, stop into the blushing lounge space, and choose from Blushington’s book of makeup looks with titles like Pure & Simple, Simply Glowing, Lucky Stars, or Smoke and Mirrors. (They also offer brows, tints, and lash extensions, as well as At Home Makeup Services and a mobile Blush Up makeup lounge for events like weddings and parties.) Blushington currently has locations in Southern California and Dallas, TX for now, but we are lobbying hard for a New York addition! Blushington's lead celebrity makeup artist Jessica Scantlin shares her tips for keeping summer makeup flexible, so your makeup bag can stay light and simple.
When it comes to wearing makeup in the summer, the goal is to get that natural bronzed glow without spending too much time in front of the mirror. Let’s be honest… nobody wants to carry their entire makeup bag to the beach or the pool!
I have included a list of some of my essential makeup products that can be placed in a small cosmetics bag — and that will help you to achieve that beautiful summer look.
1) Beach Tints by Becca
This créme stain tints the lips and cheeks with a natural wash of color. It comes in beautiful colors, and you can even apply to your eye (lid to the crease) as well. I love the color Fig because it is pretty and neutral, and gives a wash of color all over.
2) Model in a Bottle Makeup Setting Spray
Setting spray is a summer essential as it will help your makeup to last all day, even in humidity. I suggest Model in a Bottle Makeup Setting Spray (Matte Finish).
3) Kevyn Aucoin Curling Mascara
This mascara has a tube-like effect, conforming to the lash and gently curling it. It is smudge resistant and long wearing, so your mascara will still be intact after a long day.
4) Mai Couture Blush/ Powder/ Blotting Papers
Mai Couture makes great touch-up blush and powder papers that are easy to fit in your purse. They are the perfect solution to unwanted shine that may occur in the heat. Just pad it over the face and it reapplies powder back to your skin, making it look smooth and shine-free.
Throw the small cosmetics bag with these essentials into your beach bag, and you’re ready to go!
