By Tara Sowlaty and Jessie Groveman, How You Glow
Face masks are a luxurious way to treat your skin and bring out the GLOW. Making them at home? Now that’s the ultimate treat. We’re excited to share with you our favorite at-home facial that uses ingredients straight from the kitchen. Our Cucumber Rose Face Mask is nourishing, moisturizing, and soothing. It’s Tara’s grandmother’s special recipe she’s been using for years, and trust us she’s seriously got the best skin. This budget-friendly DIY mask will make your face G.L.O.W. to the max. It will soften your skin, add moisture, and calm the skin all at once.
This face mask is super easy to make and really great for your skin. We make this mask often as a luxurious way to treat ourselves — which, of course, is definitely part of #glowing. The thick labne yogurt (yogurt which is strained of excess water), rosewater, and cucumber all combine to create a really moisturizing, healing, calming, and soothing treat for your skin. One of the keys to youthful, beautiful skin is keeping it hydrated.
Labne yogurt contains lactic acid, which many dermatologists and facials use as an exfoliant. It removes some top layers of the skin naturally, clearing up discoloration, fine wrinkles, and blemishes.
Rosewater is a wonderful anti-inflammatory agent, with natural anti-bacterial properties. Rosewater not only smells divine, but also benefits all skin types. It soothes sensitive skin, balances oily skin, rejuvenates mature skin, and revitalizes normal skin. It’s filled with anti-oxidants and vitamins, and is powerfully nourishing to the skin.
Cucumber fades dark circles, reduces puffy eyes, improves complexion, and tightens pores. But the best part of cucumber is that it adds in incredible hydration to the skin. Our skin is like a sponge and it soaks up the goodness of the water and nutrients of the cucumber.
All of these ingredients come straight from nature, into your kitchen, and then into your face mask. Nature is an incredible healing resource, and we should all love and appreciate it for its amazing wonders.
